How to: Take care of your hair at home!

1.Shampoo your hair once every other week: This will help prevent build-up of hair care products, which can be drying to the hair.

2.Condition your hair: Use conditioner every time you wash your hair. Be sure to coat the ends of the hair with conditioner, as the ends are the oldest and most fragile part of your hair. Deep conditioner may be needed for excessively dry hair. (How to deep conditon: sit under dryer for 15 mins with cap & conditioner. Rinse Thoroughly.

3.Hot oil treatment twice a month:  This adds additional moisture and elasticity to your hair.

4.Use a heat protector before styling: Adding this to wet hair before styling will help minimize heat damage.

5.Blowout & Flat iron to press your own hair: Blowout your hair in sections using a Denman Brush or the comb attachment to your blow dryer for the straightest results. Blow dry Tip: when you are finished with your blowout go back in & blow dry your hair on cool setting to make your hair silkier. To straighten your hair, use a iron and only do so once a week (no more than 2 passes). Use a straightening device with a dial to ensure the device is not too hot. Use the lowest possible temperature setting that gives you the style you want. A higher temperature may be necessary for thicker, coarser hair. Wrap your hair every night before bed.

6.Use caution with relaxers:  To minimize hair damage, ALWAYS GO TO A PROFESSIONAL STYLIST! Touch-ups should only be done every 2-3 months and only on new growth. Never apply relaxer to hair that has already been relaxed. It will cause breakage & damage.

Hope this helps some of you maintain healthy hair while at home! :)
